(نَفَجَ) النُّونُ وَالْفَاءُ وَالْجِيمُ: أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى ثُؤُورِ شَيْءٍ وَارْتِفَاعِهِ. وَنَفَجَ الْيَرْبُوعُ: ثَارَ. وَأَنْفَجَهُ صَائِدُهُ. وَنَفَجَتِ الْفَرُّوجَةُ مِنْ بَيْضِهَا: خَرَجَتْ. وَانْتَفَجَ جَنْبَا الْبَعِيرِ: ارْتَفَعَا. وَالنَّوَافِجُ: مُؤَخَّرَاتُ الضُّلُوعِ، وَاحِدَتُهَا نَافِجَةٌ. وَالنَّفَّاجُ: الْمُفْتَخِرُ بِمَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ. وَنَفَجَتِ الرِّيحُ: جَاءَتْ بِقُوَّةٍ. وَالنَّفِيجَةُ: الشَّطَبِيَّةُ مِنَ النَّبْعِ تُتَّخَذُ قَوْسًا، كَأَنَّهَا تَنْتَفِجُ عَلَى الشَّجَرَةِ.
