[نغب] النُغْبُةُ بالضم: الجُرعة، وقد يُفْتح، والجمع النُغَبُ. قال ذو الرمّة: حتَّى إذا زَلَجَتْ عن كل حنجرةٍ * إلى الغليلِ ولم يَقْصَعْنَهُ نُغَبُ قال ابن السكيت: نَغِبْتُ من الإناء بالكسر نَغْباً، أي جرعت منه جرعا. وقولهم: ما جَرَّبْتُ عليه نُغْبَةً قطُّ، أي فعلة قبيحة.

نغَبَ الرِّيقَ، كَمَنَعَ ونَصَرَ وضَرَبَ: ابْتَلَعَهُ،
وـ الطَّائِرُ: حَسَا من الماءِ، ولا يُقالُ: شَرِبَ،
وـ الإِنْسانُ في الشُّرْبِ: جَرِعَ.
والنَّغْبَةُ: الجَرْعَةُ، ويُضَمُّ، أو الفتحُ للمرَّةِ، والضَّمُّ للاسْمِ.
والنَّغْبَةُ: الجَوْعَةُ، وإقْفارُ الحَيِّ، وبالضم: الفَعْلَةُ القَبيحَةُ.

(نَغَبَ) النُّونُ وَالْغَيْنُ وَالْبَاءُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، هِيَ النُّغْبَةُ: الْجُرْعَةُ. وَنَغَبْتُ، إِذَا جَرَعْتَ، وَالْجَمْعُ نُغَبٌ. قَالَ ذُو الرُّمَّةِ يَصِفُ حَمِيرًا وَرَدَتْ مَاءً فَلَمْ تَرْوَ:

حَتَّى إِذَا زَلَجَتْ عَنْ كُلِّ حَنْجَرَةٍ ... إِلَى الْغَلِيلِ وَلَمْ يَقْصَعْنَهُ نُغَبُ.
