(نَبَقَ) النُّونُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالْقَافُ كَلِمَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى تَسْوِيَةٍ وَتَهْذِيبٍ. وَالنَّخْلُ إِذَا كَانَ غِرَاسُهُ عَلَى اسْتِوَاءٍ مُنَبَّقٍ. وَقَدْ نَبَّقَهُ صَاحِبُهُ. وَكَذَلِكَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مُسْتَوٍ مُهَذَّبٍ. قَالَ:

وَحَدِّثْ بِأَنْ زَالَتْ بِلَيْلٍ حُمُولُهُمْ ... كَنَخْلٍ مِنَ الْأَعْرَاضِ غَيْرِ مُنَبَّقِ

وَلَعَلَّ النَّبْقَ، وَهُوَ حَمْلُ السِّدْرِ مِنْ هَذَا. وَيُقَالُ - وَهُوَ شَاذٌّ عَنْ هَذَا:

أَنْبَقَ الرَّجُلُ، إِذَا حَصَمَ بِهَا غَيْرَ شَدِيدَةٍ.
