(نَبَتَ) النُّونُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالتَّاءُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى نَمَاءٍ فِي مَزْرُوعٍ، ثُمَّ يُسْتَعَارُ. فَالنَّبْتُ مَعْرُوفٌ، يُقَالُ نَبَتَ. وَأَنْبَتَتِ الْأَرْضُ. وَنَبَّتُّ الشَّجَرَ: غَرَسْتُهُ. وَيُقَالُ: إِنَّ [فِي] بَنِي فُلَانٍ لَنَابِتَةَ شَرٍّ. وَنَبَتَتْ لِبَنِي فُلَانٍ نَابِتَةٌ، إِذَا نَشَأَ لَهُمْ نَشْءٌ صِغَارٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ. وَالنَّبِيتُ: حَيٌّ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ. وَمَا أَحْسَنَ نِبْتَةَ هَذَا الشَّجَرِ. وَهُوَ فِي مَنْبِتِ صِدْقٍ، أَيْ أَصْلٍ كَرِيمٍ.
