مَرَّ مُشَفْتِراً الفاء ساكِنَةٌ: أي مُشَمِّراً. واشْفَتَرَّ الشَّيْءُ اشْفِتْرَاراً: أي تَفَرَّقَ كَتَفَرُّقِ الجَرَادِ والفَرَاشِ. واشْفَتَرَّ السِّرَاجُ: اتَّسَعَتِ النارُ واحْتَجْتَ إلى أنْ تَقْطَعَ رأسَ الذُّبَالِ.
