مَرْغَبَانُ:
بالفتح ثم السكون، وغين معجمة ثم باء موحدة: قرية من قرى كسّ، ينسب إليها أبو عمرو محمد بن أحمد بن أبي النجوي الحسن بن أحمد ابن الحسن المروزي المرغباني من أهل مرو، سكن مرغبان فنسب إليها، سمع أبا العباس الغداني وأبا الفضل الخلّادي وأزهر بن أحمد السرخسي، سمع منه جماعة، وتوفي بعد سنة 430.
