(مَيَعَ) الْمِيمُ وَالْيَاءُ وَالْعَيْنُ كَلِمَةٌ صَحِيحَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى جَرَيَانِ شَيْءٍ وَاضْطِرَابِ شَيْءٍ وَحَرَكَتِهِ. وَمَاعَ الشَّيْءُ يَمِيعُ: جَرَى عَلَى وَجْهِ الْأَرْضِ، وَالْمَائِعُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ ذَائِبٍ. وَمِنْهُ الْمَيْعَةُ وَالنَّشَاطُ، وَذَلِكَ لِلْحَرَكَةِ. وَالْمَيْعَةُ: أَوَّلُ الشَّبَابِ، وَذَلِكَ إِذَا تَرَعْرَعَ وَتَحَرَّكَ.
