المَقْتُ: بُغْضٌ عن أمْرٍ قَبِيحٍ، قد مَقُتَ إلى الناس مَقَاتَةً، ومَقَتَه الناسُ فهو ممْقُوتٌ ومَقِيتٌ. والمُقِيْتُ: الحافِظُ، لقَوْله عَزَّ وجلَّ: وكانَ اللهُ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءِ مقِيتا ". وبابُ المُعْتَلِّ أوْلى به.
