(مَعَكَ) الْمِيمُ وَالْعَيْنُ وَالْكَافُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى دَلْكِ الشَّيْءِ وَلَيِّهِ. وَمَعَكْتُ الْأَدِيمَ مَعْكًا. ثُمَّ يُسَمُّونَ الْمِطَالَ وَاللَّيَّ مَعْكًا، وَالرَّجُلَ الْمَطُولَ مَعِكًا. قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . لَا ... تَمْعَكْ بِعِرْضِكَ إِنَّ الْغَادِرَ الْمَعِكُ

قَالَ الْخَلِيلُ: رَجُلٌ مَعْكٌ: شَدِيدُ الْخُصُومَةِ. وَقَوْلُهُمْ: وَقَعَ فِي مَعْكُوكَاءِ شَيْءٍ، يَجُوزُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْإِبْدَالُ وَالْأَصْلُ بَعْكُوكَاءُ.
