(معط) - في حديث ابن إسحاق: "أنَّ فلاناً وَتَّر قَوْسَه ثم مَعَطَ فيها" : أي مدَّ يَديْه. والمَعْطُ، بالعَينْ والغَين: مَدُّ الشىَّءِ.

(مَعَطَ)
(هـ) فِيهِ «قَالَتْ لَهُ عَائِشَةُ: لَوْ أخذتَ ذاتَ الذَّنْبِ مِنَّا بذَنْبِها، قَالَ: إِذًا أدَعُها كَأَنَّهَا شاةٌ مَعْطاءُ» هِيَ الَّتِي سَقَط صوفُها. يُقَالُ: امّعَطَ شَعْرُه وتَمَعَّطَ، إِذَا تَنَاثَرَ. وَقَدْ تَكَرَّرَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ.
وَفِي حَدِيثِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ «فأعْرَض عَنْهُ فَقَامَ مُتَمَعِّطاً» أَيْ مُتَسَخِّطاً مُتَغَضِّباً. يَجُوزُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بِالْعَيْنِ وَالْغَيْنِ.
(س) وَفِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ «إن فلانا وترقوسه ثُمَّ مَعَط فِيهَا» أَيْ مدَّ يَدَيْهِ بِهَا.
والمَعْطُ بِالْعَيْنِ وَالْغَيْنِ: المدُّ.

(مَعِطَ) الْمِيمُ وَالْعَيْنُ وَالطَّاءُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى تَجَرُّدِ الشَّيْءِ وَتَجْرِيدِهِ وَمَعِطَ تَمَرَّطَ شَعْرُهُ. وَمَعَطْتُ السَّيْفَ مِنْ قِرَابِهِ: جَرَّدْتُهُ. وَيَكُونُ مِنَ الْبَابِ مَعَطَ فِي الْقَوْسِ: نَزَعَ.
