مس

أ1 مَسَأَ الطَّرِيقَ He went along the middle of the road; (K;) or the hard and elevated part (مَتْن) of the road. (TA.) b2: مَسَأَ He was slow, or tardy. (K.) b3: مَسَأَ حَقَّهُ He delayed giving him his due. (K, TA.) b4: مَسَأَ القِدْرَ He stilled, or allayed, the boiling of the pot. (K.) b5: مَسَأَهُ بِالقَوْلِ He soothed, or softened, him by words. (K.) b6: مَسَأَ He beguiled, or deceived. (K.) b7: مَسَأَ عَلَى شَىْءٍ, (K,) inf. n. مَسْءٌ, (TA,) He became accustomed, or inured to a thing. (K.) A2: مَسَأَ بَيْنَهُمْ and ↓ امسأ, He excited discord between them. (K, TA.) b2: مَسَأَ, (S, K,) aor. ـَ (K,) inf. n. مَسْءٌ (S, K) and مُسُوءٌ, (K,) He was hard, or impudent, and rude; not caring for what one said, or did to him. (Az, S, K.) 4 أَمْسَاَ see 1.5 تمسّأ It (a garment) rent, or became ragged and worn out. (IB, K.) مَسْءٌ The middle of a road. (K.) [See 1, and see مِسْحٌ.]

مَاسِئٌ Hard, or impudent, and rude; not caring for what one says or does to him. (Az, S.) Perhaps مَاسٍ is from this: (see art. مسى:) or perhaps it is formed by transposition from مَائِسٌ: see art. ميس. (AM.)
