لم

أ1 لَمَأَهُ, and لَمَأَ عَلَيْهِ, aor. ـَ He smote his hand upon it, [or laid his hand upon it, or seized it,] openly or secretly. (K.) b2: لَمَأَ الشَّىْءَ He took the whole thing; took it entirely. (K.) b3: لَمَأَ الشَّىْءَ, (K,) inf. n. لَمْءٌ, (TA,) He glanced, or took a slight look at the thing; beheld it quickly: like لَمَحَهُ. (K.) 4 المأ عَلَيْهِ He (a thief, TA) took it away privily. (K.) [See also أَلْمَى.] b2: المأ عَلَىَّ حَقِّى He denied me my right, or due. (K.) b3: المأت الدَّوَابُّ المَكَانَ (S) [in the K, بِالَمكَانِ; but this appears, from what is said in the S and the TA, to be wrong;] The beasts of carriage left the place bare of pasture. (S, K.) b4: المأ عليه, (K,) or بِهِ, (S, L,) He took, or got, possession of it; took it, got it, or held it, within his grasp, or in his possession: syn. إِشْتَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ: (S, K:) or the latter signifies he took it away; went away with it. (K.) المأ عَلَى الشَّىْءِ He got possession of the thing. (L.) ذَهَبَ ثَوْبِى فَمَا أَدْرِى مَنْ المأ به [My garment is gone, and I know not who has taken, or got, possession of it; or who has taken it away]. (S.) The phrase without negation is also used. (ISk, S.) [See also 8.]5 تلمّأت الأَرْضُ بِهِ, (K,) and عَلَيْهِ, (S, K,) The earth enclosed him; was made even over him: and concealed him. (S, K.) See 8.8 التمأ بِمَا فِى الجَفْنَةِ, and ↓ المأ, and ↓ تلمّأ, He took to himself the contents of the bowl. (K, TA.) [See also التمع and المع and تلمّع.]

A2: أُلْتُمِىءَ لَوْنُهُ His colour altered, or became altered. (S, K.) إِلْتَمَأَ is also mentioned as having the same signification. (TA.) [See also التمع and التمى.]

مَلْمُؤَةٌ A place in which a thing is taken (يُؤْخَذُ, as in some copies of the K) or found (يُوجَدُ, as in other copies of the K). b2: A sportsman's, or hunter's, or fowler's, or fisherman's net. (K, TA.)
