(لحف) - في حديث ابن عمر - رضي الله عنهما -: "إنَّه كان يُلْحِفُ شارِبَه"
: أي يُبالغ في جَزِّه . يُقالُ أَلحفَ ظُفْرَهُ: اسْتَأْصَلَه.
وألحَفَ به: أضَرَّ به، واللَّحْفُ مثل اللَّحص .

لَحْفٌ:
بفتح أوله، وسكون ثانيه، والفاء، واللّحف:
الأغطية، ومنه سمي اللّحاف الذي يتغطى به: هو واد بالحجاز يقال له لحف عليه قريتان جبلة والسّتارة، وقد ذكرناهما في موضعهما.

لِحْفٌ:
بكسر أوله، وسكون ثانيه، ولحف الجبل أصله: وهو صقع معروف من نواحي بغداد سمي بذلك لأنه في لحف جبال همذان ونهاوند وتلك النواحي وهو دونها مما يلي العراق ومنه البند نيجين وغيرها وفيه عدة قلاع حصينة.
