لاج: (باللاتينية halex وبالأسبانية alache و aleche) نوع من صغار السمك رنكة (من فصيلة الصابوغيات) وبلم (سنمورة) وساردين. (معجم الادريسي) ويسميه (ليرشندي): لاجة ويشير إلى نوع السمك صغير في المغرب ويذكر (بوسييه) اسم لاشّة ويصفه بأنه نوع رديء من الساردين.
