كَثْنَبٌ, as also كَنْثَبٌ, Hard, and strong, or robust: (K:) but most of the writers on inflexion consider its ن augmentative. (TA.)

: (الكَثْنَبُ، كَجَعْفَرٍ) : أَهمله الجَوْهَرِيُّ، وصاحِبُ اللِّسَان. وقالَ الصّاغانيُّ فِي كثب: هُوَ (الصُّلْبُ الشَّدِيدُ) ، ونُونُهُ زائِدةٌ عِنْد أَكثرِ الصَّرْفِيِّينَ. (وَقد تُقَدَّمُ النُّونُ) على الثّاءَ المُثلَّثة، وسيأْتي فِي مَوْضِعه.
