[كتن] نه: فيه: قال لامرأة: إنك "لكتون"، أي لزوق، من كتن الوسخ عليه- إذا لزق به، الكتن: لطخ الدخان بالحائط، أي أنها لزوق بمن يمسها أو أنها دنسة العرض. و"كتانة"- بضم كاف وخفة تاء: ناحية من أعراض المدينة.

(كَتَنَ) الْكَافُ وَالتَّاءُ وَالنُّونُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى لَطْخٍ وَدَرَنٍ. يُقَالُ الْكَتَنُ: لَطْخُ الدُّخَانِ الْبَيْتَ. وَيُقَالُ: كَتِنَتْ جَحَافِلُ الدَّابَّةِ: اسْوَدَّتْ مِنْ أَكْلِ الدَّرِينِ. وَكَتِنَ السِّقَاءُ، إِذَا لَصِقَ بِهِ اللَّبَنُ مِنْ خَارِجٍ فَغَلُظَ. وَالْكَتَّانُ مَعْرُوفٌ، وَزَعَمُوا أَنَّ نُونَهُ أَصْلِيَّةٌ. وَسَمَّاهُ الْأَعْشَى الْكَتَنُ. قَالَ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ: هُوَ عَرَبِيٌّ مَعْرُوفٌ، وَإِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ بِذَلِكَ لِأَنَّهُ يَلْقَى بَعْضُهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ حَتَّى يَكْتِنَ.
