(قَمَهَ) الْقَافُ وَالْمِيمُ وَالْهَاءُ فِيهِ كَلِمَاتٌ لَيْسَتْ بِأَصْلِيَّةٍ. يَقُولُونَ: قَمَهَ الشَّيْءُ، إِذَا انْغَمَسَ فِي الْمَاءِ فَارْتَفَعَ حِينًا وَغَابَ حِينًا. وَقِفَافٌ قُمَّهُ. تَغِيبُ فِي السَّرَابِ وَتَظْهَرُ. وَهَذَا فِي الْإِبْدَالِ، وَأَصْلُهُ قَمَسَ. وَيَقُولُونَ: قَمَهَ الْبَعِيرُ مِثْلُ قَمَحَ، إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَلَمْ يَشْرَبِ الْمَاءَ، هُوَ مِنَ الْإِبْدَالِ. وَكَلِمَةٌ أُخْرَى مِنَ الْمَقْلُوبِ، قَالَ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ: الْقَمَهُ مِثْلُ الْقَهَمِ، وَهُوَ قِلَّةُ الشَّهْوَةِ لِلطَّعَامِ، قَهِمَ وَقَمِهَ.
