: (القُمْعُوثُ، كزُنْبُورٍ) أَهمله الجوهريّ، وَقَالَ ابنُ دُرَيْد: هُوَ (الدَّيُّوثُ) .
وَفِي اللِّسَان: هُوَ القُعْمُوثُ بِتَقْدِيم الْعين على الْمِيم، وَذكره فِي المَحَلَّيْنِ.
وَقَالَ ابنُ دُريد: لَا أَحْسَبُه عَرَبيًّا مَحْضاً، قَالَ شيخُنا: ولذالك تَرَكَه الجوهريّ.
