قرفص: القَرافِصةُ: اللصوص، يُقرْفِصون الناس: يشدونهم وثاقا. والقَرْفَصةُ: شد اليدين تحت الرجلين.

وفي الحديث: كان أكثر جلوس رسول الله ص: القرفصاء، وبيده قضيب مقشو .

قال الشاعر: جلوس القُرْفُصاء كذا [مكباً] ... فما تنساح نفسي لانبساطي
