فُلان وفُلانة: بغير ألف ولام يكنى بهما عن العَلَم الذي مسماه ممن يعقل، وهما يجريان مجرى الأعلام في امتناع دخول الألف واللام عليهما وامتناع صرف المؤنث منهما، والفلانُ والفلانةُ: بألْ للفرق بين العاقل وغيره كناية عن العَلَم لغير من يعقل.
