الفَحْسُ: أخْذُكَ الشَّيْءَ عن يَدِكَ بِلِسَانِكَ وفَمِكَ من الماء ونَحْوِهِ. وفَحَسْتُ السُّلْتَ حتّى انْقَطَعَ عنه السَّفا فَحْساً: أي دَلَكْتُهُ.

الفَحْس، كالمَنْع: أَخْذُكَ الشَّيْءَ عَن، كَذَا نَصُّ الصّاغَانِيِّ، وَفِي التَّهْذِيب: منْ يَدِكَ بلِسانكَ وفَمِكَ من المَاءِ وغيرِه، وَقَالَ ابنُ فارسٍ: الفَحْسُ: لَحْسُكَ الشَّيْءَ بلِسَانكَ عَنْ يَدِك. والفَحْس: دَلْكُ السُّلْتِ، لنَوْعٍ خاصَ من الشَّعِير، حَتَّى تَقْلَعَ وتُطَايِرَ عَنهُ السَّفَا، نلقَه الصّاغَانِيُّ. وتَفَيْحَسَ فِي مِشْيَتِه، إِذا تَبَخْتَر، وَكَذَلِكَ تَفَيْسَحَ. وممَّا يسْتَدْرَك عَلَيْهِ: أَفْحَس الرجَلُ، إِذا سَحَجَ شَيْئا بَعْدَ شيْءٍ.
