الفاعل: ما أسند إليه الفعل أو شبهه على جهة قيامه به، أي على جهة قيام الفعل؛ ليخرج عنه مفعول ما لم يسم فاعله.

الفاعل المختار: هو الذي يصح أن يصدر عنه الفعل مع قصد وإرادة.
