لك عندي فرحةٌ أي بشرى، وفلان إن مسّه خير فمفراح وفرحان، وتقول: أفرحتني الدنيا ثم أفرحتني أي سرّتني ثم غمّتني، والهمزة: للسلب. أنشد ابن الأعرابيّ:

ولما تولّى الجيش قلت ولم أكن ... لأفرحه أبشر بغزوٍ ومغنم

وتقول: المرء دائر بين مفرحين، قاعد بين سلامةٍ وحين.
