(غَلَفَ) الْغَيْنُ وَاللَّامُ وَالْفَاءُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ صَحِيحَةٌ، تَدُلُّ عَلَى غِشَاوَةٍ وَغِشْيَانِ شَيْءٍ لِشَيْءٍ. يُقَالُ: غِلَافُ السَّيْفِ وَالسِّكِّينِ. وَقَلْبٌ أَغْلَفُ: كَأَنَّمَا أُغْشِيَ غِلَافًا فَهُوَ لَا يَعِي شَيْئًا. قَالَ اللَّهُ - تَعَالَى: {وَقَالُوا قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌ} [البقرة: 88] ، أَيْ أُغْشِيَتْ شَيْئًا فَهِيَ لَا تَعِي. وَقُرِئَتْ: " غُلُفٌ "، أَيْ أَوْعِيَةٌ لِلْعِلْمِ. وَالْقِيَاسُ فِي ذَلِكَ كُلُّهُ وَاحِدٌ. وَيَقُولُونَ: تُغَلَّفُ بِالْغَالِيَةِ، وَلَيْسَ بِبَعِيدٍ مِمَّا ذَكَرْنَاهُ.
