العَدْكُ، بالمُهْمَلَةِ أَهْمَلَه الجَوْهَرِيُّ، وَقَالَ ابنُ دُرَيْدٍ: هُوَ ضَربُ الصُّوفِ بالمِطْرَقَةِ لُغَةٌ يمانِيَةٌ، يُقَال: عَدَكَه يَعْدِكُه عَدْكًا. وَهِي أَي المِطْرَقَةُ تُسَمَّى المِعْدَكَة وَزْنًا ومَعْنًى.
