ع ن د: (عَنَدَ) مِنْ بَابِ جَلَسَ أَيْ خَالَفَ وَرَدَّ الْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَعْرِفُهُ فَهُوَ (عَنِيدٌ) وَ (عَانِدٌ) . وَ (عَانَدَهُ) (مُعَانَدَةً) وَ (عِنَادًا) بِالْكَسْرِ عَارَضَهُ. وَ (عِنْدَ) حُضُورُ الشَّيْءِ وَدُنُوُّهُ. وَفِيهَا ثَلَاثُ لُغَاتٍ: كَسْرُ الْعَيْنِ وَفَتْحُهَا وَضَمُّهَا. وَهِيَ ظَرْفٌ فِي الْمَكَانِ وَالزَّمَانِ تَقُولُ: عِنْدَ الْحَائِطِ وَعِنْدَ اللَّيْلِ. إِلَّا أَنَّهَا ظَرْفٌ غَيْرُ مُتَمَكِّنٍ. لَا يُقَالُ: عِنْدُكَ وَاسْعٌ بِالرَّفْعِ. وَقَدْ أَدْخَلُوا عَلَيْهَا مِنْ حُرُوفِ الْجَرِّ مِنْ وَحْدَهَا كَمَا أَدْخَلُوهَا عَلَى لَدُنْ، قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: {رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا} [الكهف: 65] وَقَالَ: « {مِنْ لَدُنَّا} [النساء: 67] » وَلَا يُقَالُ: مَضَيْتُ إِلَى عِنْدِكَ وَلَا إِلَى لَدُنْكَ. وَقَدْ يُغْرَى بِهَا تَقُولُ: عِنْدَكَ زَيْدًا أَيْ خُذْهُ.
