عَلَى — عَلَى
a. On, upon; above, over.

عَلَى البَاب
a. On, upon the door.
عَلَيْهِ دَيْن
a. There is upon him a debt: he owes a debt.

عَلَيْهِ السَّلام
a. السَّلَام عَلَيْهِ Peace be
upon (with) him.
فَضَّلْنَا بَضًا عَلَى بَعْض
a. We have made some to have superiority over, above others.
خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِ
a. He went out against him.
عَمِلْتُ عَلَى أَمْرِكَ
a. I acted according to your orders.

لَا أَسْأَلُكُم عَلَيْهِ

a. He approached towards him.

a. We sat near, around the fire.
دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ
a. He came in to him.
عَلَيْكَ أَن تَفْعَل
a. It behoves thee to do.

عَلىَ ظَهْر قَلْبِهِ
a. By heart.
عَليَ يَد فُلَان
a. By means of.
عَلىَ عَهْدِهِ
a. In his time.
عَلىيا حِيْن غَفْلَة
a. In, at, during a time of inadvertence.
عَمِلَهُ عَلىَ كِبَر سِنِّهِ
a. He did it notwithstanding his advanced age.

عَلىَ أَن
a. In as much as, because of.
b. Although, notwithstanding.
