وهو نوعان: أحدهما: المسمى: بالمقنطرات ويرسم عليها ربع الدوائر المرسومة على الكرة وهي تختلف باختلاف عروض البلدان والآخر: الربع المجيب: ويرسم عليه خطوط مستقيمة متقاطعة وفي هذا العلم رسائل مشهورة عند أهله كذا في مدينة العلوم.
