عرصف: العِرصافُ: العَقِبُ المُستطيل، وأكثر ما يقال ذلك لعَقِبِ المتْنَيْن والجنْبَيْن. وعَرَصَفْتُ الشيءَ أي: جَذَبْتُه فَشَقَقْتُه مُستطيلاً. والعَراصيف: أربعةُ أوتادٍ يجمعن بين أحناء رءوس القَتَب، في رأس كلّ حِنْوٍ من ذلك وَدّانِ مَشْدودان بجُلُود الإِبِل، يَعدِلُونَ الحِنْوَ بالعُرْصرف. وعَراصيفُ القَتَب: عصافيره. والعُصفور والعُرْصوف واحد.
