(طَمَى) الطَّاءُ وَالْمِيمُ وَالْحَرْفُ الْمُعْتَلُّ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى عُلُوٍّ وَارْتِفَاعٍ فِي شَيْءٍ خَاصٍّ. يُقَالُ: طَمَا الْبَحْرُ يَطْمُو وَيَطْمِي، لُغَتَانِ، وَهُوَ طَامٍ، وَذَلِكَ إِذَا امْتَلَأَ وَعَلَا. وَيُقَالُ: طَمَى الْفَرَسُ، إِذَا مَرَّ مُسْرِعًا. وَلَا يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا فِي ارْتِفَاعٍ.
