[طوح] طاحَ يَطوحُ ويَطيحُ: هلك وسقط، وكذلك إذا تاهَ في الأرض. وطَوَّحَهُ، أي توَّهَهُ وذهب به هَهُنا وهَهُنا، فَتَطَوَّحَ في البلاد، إذا رمى بنفسه ههنا وههنا. وتطاوَحَتْ بهم النَوى، أي ترامَتْ. والمَطاوِحُ: المَقاذِف. وطَوَّحته الطوائح: قذفته القواذف. ولا يقال المطوحات. وهو من النوادر كقوله تعالى: (وأرسلنا الرياح لواقح) على أحد التأويلين.

(طَوُحَ)
(س [هـ] ) فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي يَوْمِ اليَرْمُوك «فَمَا رُئي مَوُطنٌ أكثَرُ قِحْفَا سَاقِطًا، وَكَفًّا طَائِحَة» أَيْ طَائرةً مِنْ مِعْصَمها سَاقطَة. يُقَالُ طَاحَ الشَّيْءُ يَطُوحُ ويَطِيحُ إِذَا سَقَط وهَلَك، فَهُوَ عَلَى يَطِيح مِنْ بَابِ فَعِل يَفْعِل، مِثْلَ حسِب يَحْسِب. وَقِيلَ هُوَ مِنْ بَابِ بَاعَ يَبِيع.

(طَوَحَ) الطَّاءُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالْحَاءُ لَيْسَ بِأَصْلٍ، وَكَأَنَّهُ مِنْ بَابِ الْإِبْدَالِ. يُقَالُ: طَاحَ يَطِيحُ. ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ: طَاحَ يَطُوحُ، أَيْ هَلَكَ.
