طفح طَفَحَ النَّهرُ امْتَلأَ، وهو طافِحٌ. وكذلك السَّكْرَانُ. وإِنَاءٌ طَفْحَانٌ مَلآْنٌ. والرِّيْحُ تَطْفَحُ القُطْنَةَ إذا سَطَعَتْ بها. والطُّفَاحَةُ غُثَاءُ القِدْرِ أوَّلَ ما تَغْلي. والاطِّفَاحُ اللِّعْقُ. وطَفَحَتْ نَفْسُه عن كذا أي انْتَهَتْ عنه. وإذا وَلَدَتِ المَرْأةُ لتَمَامِ قيل طَفَحَتْ به طَفْحاً. ورُكْبَةٌ طافِحَةٌ أي يابِسَةٌ لا يَقْدِر صاحِبُها أنْ يَقْبِضَها، وقد طَفُحَتْ رُكْبَتُه.
