طاروس: هبوب ريح. ويقال على الطاروس إذا كان هبوب الريح ملائماً (معجم الإدريسي).
طاروس: كلب صيد (هلو) وفي معجم فوك طروس في مادة لاتينية معناها كلب صيد، وعند موريسك ألفونسو ديلكا ستيلو: طوْرأس وهو كلب لصيد الحجل (سيمونيه).
