ضَمَغْتُ الجلد: بللته إذا كان يابساً.
وقال الخارزنجي: ضَمَغَ شدق البعير: إذا انشق، وأضْمَغَه السلم. وقال الليث: أضْمَغَ شدقه، قال: الأضْمَاغُ: أن يكثر بصاق شِدِقْه، وأنشد:
وأضْمَغَ شدقه يبكي عليها ... يسيل على عوارضه البُصاقا
وقال أبو عمرو: انْضَمَغَ: أي ابتل.
