(صَيَّ) الصَّادُ وَالْيَاءُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ مُطَابَقَةٌ، وَهِيَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يُتَحَصَّنُ بِهِ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ تَسْمِيَتُهُمُ الْحُصُونَ صَيَاصِيَ، ثُمَّ شُبِّهَ بِذَلِكَ مَا يُحَارِبُ وَيَتَحَصَّنُ بِهِ الدِّيكُ [وَسُمِّيَ] صِيصِيَةً، وَكَذَلِكَ قَرْنُ الثَّوْرِ يُسَمَّى بِذَلِكَ ; لِأَنَّهُ يَتَحَصَّنُ وَيُحَارِبُ بِهِ.
