في الحديث " كل ما أصميت ودع ما أنميت " أي قتلته في مكانه. وفلان يرمي، فيصمي ولا ينمي. ورجل صميان، مضاء على الأمور. وانصمى على الأمر: أقبل عليه كما ينصمي الطائر إذا انقضّ: وأصمى الفرس على لجامه: عضّ عليه ومضى. قال:

أصمى على فأس اللجام وقربه ... بالماء يقطر مرة ويسيل
