[صمغ] الصَمْغُ: واحد صُموغِ الأشجار، وأنواعُه كثيرة، وأمَّا الذي يقال له الصَمغ العربيّ فصَمْغُ الطلح، والقطعة منه صَمْغَةٌ وفي المثل: " تركتُه على مثل مَقْرِفِ الصَمْغَةِ "، وذلك إذا لم تَتركْ له شيئاً، لأنها تُقْتَلَعُ من شجرتها حتَّى لا تبقى عليها عُلْقَةٌ. وحِبْرٌ مُصَمَّغٌ، أي مُتَّخَذٌ منه. وهذا الحرف لا أدرى ممن سمعته. والصامغان: جانبا الفم. واستصمغت الصاب، وذلك أن تَشْرِطَ شجرَهُ ليخرج منه شئ مرفينا عقد كالصبر. عن أبى الغوث.
