(صَقَعَ) الصَّادُ وَالْقَافُ وَالْعَيْنُ أُصُولٌ ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَحَدُهَا: وَقْعُ شَيْءٍ عَلَى شَيْءٍ، كَالضَّرْبِ وَنَحْوِهِ، وَالْآخَرُ: صَوْتٌ، وَالثَّالِثُ: غِشْيَانُ شَيْءٍ لِشَيْءٍ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ: الصَّقْعُ وَهُوَ الضَّرْبُ بِبَسْطِ الْكَفِّ. يُقَالُ: صَقَعَهُ صَقْعًا. وَأَمَّا الصَّوْتُ فَقَوْلُهُمْ صَقَعَ الدِّيكُ يَصْقَعُ. وَمِنَ الْبَابِ خَطِيبٌ مِصْقَعٌ، إِذَا كَانَ بَلِيغًا، وَكَأَنَّهُ سُمِّيَ بِذَلِكَ لِجَهَارَةِ صَوْتِهِ.

وَأَمَّا الْأَصْلُ الثَّالِثُ فِي غِشْيَانِ الشَّيْءِ الشَّيْءَ، فَالصِّقَاعِ، وَهِيَ الْخِرْقَةُ الَّتِي تَتَغَشَّاهَا الْمَرْأَةُ فِي رَأْسِهَا، تَقِي بِهَا خِمَارَهَا الدُّهْنَ. وَالصَّقِيعُ: الْبَرْدُ الْمُحْرِقُ لِلنَّبَاتِ فَهَذَا يَصْلُحُ فِي هَذَا، كَأَنَّهُ شَيْءٌ غَشَّى النَّبَاتَ فَأَحْرَقَهُ، وَيَصْلُحُ فِي بَابِ الضَّرْبِ.

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ الْعُقَابُ الصَّقْعَاءُ: الْبَيْضَاءُ الرَّأْسِ، كَأَنَّ الْبَيَاضَ غَشَّى رَأْسَهَا. وَيُقَالُ: الصِّقَاعُ الْبُرْقُعُ. وَالصِّقَاعُ: شَيْءٌ يُشَدُّ بِهِ أَنْفُ النَّاقَةِ. قَالَ الْقُطَامِيُّ:

إِذَا رَأْسٌ رَأَيْتُ بِهِ طِمَاحًا ... شَدَدْتُ لَهُ الْغَمَائِمَ وَالصِّقَاعَا

وَمِنْهُ الصَّقَعُ، مِثْلَ الْغَشْيِ يَأْخُذُ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنَ الْحَرِّ، فِي قَوْلِ سُوَيْدٍ:

يَأْخُذُ السَّائِرَ فِيهَا كَالصَّقَعْ

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ الصَّاقِعَةُ، فَمُمْكِنٌ أَنْ تُسَمَّى بِذَلِكَ لِأَنَّهَا تَغْشَى. وَمُمْكِنٌ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنَ الضَّرْبِ. أَمَّا قَوْلُ أَوْسٍ:

يَا بَا دُلَيْجَةَ مَنْ لِحَيٍّ مُفْرَدٍ ... صَقِعٌ مِنَ الْأَعْدَاءِ فِي شَوَّالِ

فَقَالَ قَوْمٌ: هَذَا الَّذِي أَصَابَهُ مِنَ الْأَعْدَاءِ كَالصَّاقِعَةِ. وَالصَّوْقَعَةُ: الْعِمَامَةُ ; لِأَنَّهَا تُغَشِّي الرَّأْسَ. وَمَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الْبَابِ فَهُوَ مِنَ الْإِبْدَالِ ; لِأَنَّ الصُّقْعَ النَّاحِيَةُ. وَالْأَصْلُ - فِيمَا ذَكَرَ الْخَلِيلُ - السِّينُ، كَأَنَّهُ فِي الْأَصْلِ " سَقَعَ ". وَيَكُونُ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ قَوْلُهُمْ: مَا أَدْرِي أَيْنَ صَقَعَ، أَيْ ذَهَبَ، وَالْمَعْنَى إِلَى أَيِّ صَقْعٍ ذَهَبَ. وَقَالَ فِي قَوْلِ أَوْسٍ " صَقِعٌ مِنَ الْأَعْدَاءِ " هُوَ الْمُتَنَحِّي الصُّقْعَ.
