الصّخَب: شدَّة الصَّوت واختلاطه، وَقد صَخِب صَخَباً.

وَرجل صخّاب، وصَخِبٌ، وصَخوب، وصَخْبان: شَدِيد الصخب كَثِيره.

وَجمع الصَّخبان: صُخْبان، عَن كُراع.

وَالْأُنْثَى: صَخِبة، وصَخْابة، وصُخُبّة، وصَخُوب، قَالَ:

فعلكّ لَو تُبدّلنا صَخُوباً تَردُّ الامرد المُختال كَهْلاَ

وَقَول اسامة الْهُذلِيّ:

إِذا اضْطربَ المَمَرُّ بجانَبْها تَرَنَّم قَينةٌ صَخِبٌ طَرُوبُ

حمله على الشَّخْص فذكَّر، إِذْ لَا يُعرف فِي الْكَلَام امْرَأَة فَعِل، بِلَا هَاء.

وَعين صَخْبة: مُصْطَفِقَة عِنْد الجَيَشَان.

وَمَاء صَخِبُ الآذىّ، ومُصطخبه، كَذَلِك. واصطخاب الطير: اخْتِلَاط اصواتها.

وحِمار صَخِب الشَّوَارِب: يُرِّدد نُهاقه فِي شواربه، والشوارب: مجاري المَاء فِي الْحلق، قَالَ:

صَخِبُ الشَّوَارِب لَا يزَال كَأَنَّهُ عَبد لآل أبي ربيعةَ مُسْبَعُ

والصَّخبة: العَطفة.
