شَنِيلٌ، كأَمِيرٍ: نَهْرٌ عَظيمٌ بالأَنْدَلُسِ، ذَكَرَهُ الْمَقَّرِيُّ فِي نَفْحِ الطِّيبِ، قالَ فِيهِ بَعْضُ الْمَغَارِبَةِ يُفَضِّلُهُ عَلى نِيلِ مِصْرَ: شَنِيلٌ ألْفُ نِيلٍ، والشِّينُ عِنْدَهُم بِأَلْفٍ.
