(شَنِبَ) الشِّينُ وَالنُّونُ وَالْبَاءُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى بَرْدٍ فِي شَيْءٍ. يَقُولُونَ: شَنِبَ يَوْمُنَا، فَهُوَ شَنِبٌ وَشَانِبٌ، إِذَا بَرَدَ.

وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ الثَّغْرُ الْأَشْنَبُ، هُوَ الْبَارِدُ الْعَذْبُ. قَالَ:

يَا بِأَبِي أَنْتِ وَفُوكِ الْأَشْنَبُ
