Q. 1 شَنْبَثَ الهَوَى قَلْبَهُ, (S and L in art. شبث, as Q. Q., and K in the present art.,) inf. n. شَنْبَثَةٌ, (S, L,) Love clave to his heart. (S, L, K.) الشَّنْبَثُ The lion; as also ↓ الشُّنَابِثُ. (K.) شُنَابِثٌ Thick, gross, big, bulky, coarse, or rough; syn. غَلِيظٌ. (K.) b2: See also الشَّنْبَثُ.

: (الشَّنْبَثُ) كجَعفرِ، أَهمله الجوهريّ، وأَورده الصّاغانيّ وصاحبُ اللّسَان فِي شبث وَقَالا: هُوَ (الأَسَدُ، كالشُّنَابِثِ بالضّمّ، وَهُوَ) صَوَابه: وهُما أَيضاً (: الغَلِيظُ) الشّديد.
(وشَنْبَثَ الهَوَى قَلْبَه: عَلِقَ بِه) كَشَبِثَه.
