(ش ر ط) : (الشُّرْطَةُ) بِالسُّكُونِ وَالْحَرَكَةِ خِيَارُ الْجُنْدِ وَأَوَّلُ كَتِيبَةٍ تَحْضُرُ الْحَرْبَ وَالْجَمْعُ شُرَطٌ (وَصَاحِب الشُّرْطَةِ) فِي بَابِ الْجُمُعَةِ يُرَادُ بِهِ أَمِيرُ الْبَلْدَةِ كَأَمِيرِ بُخَارَى وَقِيلَ هَذَا عَلَى عَادَتِهِمْ لِأَنَّ أُمُورَ الدِّينِ وَالدُّنْيَا كَانَتْ حِينَئِذٍ إلَى صَاحِبِ الشُّرْطَةِ فَأَمَّا الْآنَ فَلَا (وَالشُّرْطِيُّ) بِالسُّكُونِ وَالْحَرَكَةِ مَنْسُوبٌ إلَى الشُّرْطَةِ عَلَى اللُّغَتَيْنِ لَا إلَى الشُّرَطِ لِأَنَّهُ جَمْعٌ.
