الشَّحْوَةُ: الجَوْفُ، إناءٌ واسِعُ الشَّحْوَةِ. وهي أيضاً: الخَطْوَةُ البَعِيْدَةُ.
وبِئرٌ شَحْوَاءُ: واسِعَةُ الرَّأْسِ. وشَحى - مَقْصُوْرٌ -: ماءٌ لبَعْضِ العَرَبِ؛ وهي لا تَجْري. وتَشَحّى فلانٌ في السّوْمِ: أبْعَدَ.
