من (س م ط) نسبة إلى سَمْط: الرجل الفقير، والسمط: غمس الذبيحة في الماء الحار أو في مادة كيمياوية لإزالة ما على جلدها من شر أو ريش قبل طبخها أو شيها.

من (س م ط) نسبة إلى سِمْط: الرجل الفطن الخفيف في جسمه، والصياد للزومه لمكان الصيد، والسمط: القلادة للعنق، والسير تعلق في مؤخر السرج وتشديد الأشياء.
