شيء سَمْج وسَمِج وسميج: لا ملاحة فيه، وقد سمج سماجة. قال أبو ذؤيب:

فإن تصرمي حبلي وإن تتبدّلي ... خليلاً فمنهم صالح وسميج

وما أسمج فعله، وهو سمج لمج، وأنا أستسمج فعلك. وما سمجه عندي إلا كذا.
