فيه ذكر «السَّحْنَة السِّحْنَة» وهي بَشَرَة الوجه وهيأَتُه وحالُه، وَهِيَ مَفْتُوحَةُ السِّينِ، وَقَدْ تُكْسر. وَيُقَالُ فِيهَا السَّحْنَاءُ أَيْضًا بِالْمَدِّ.

(سَحَنَ) السِّينُ وَالْحَاءُ وَالنُّونُ ثَلَاثَةُ أُصُولٍ: أَحَدُهَا الْكَسْرُ، وَالْآخَرُ اللَّوْنُ وَالْهَيْئَةُ، وَالثَّالِثُ الْمُخَالَطَةُ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ قَوْلُهُمْ: سَحَنْتُ الْحَجَرَ، إِذَا كَسَرْتَهُ. وَالْمِسْحَنَةُ، هِيَ الَّتِي تُكْسَرُ بِهَا الْحِجَارَةُ، وَالْجَمْعُ مَسَاحِنُ. قَالَ الْهُذَلِيُّ:

كَمَا صَرَفَتْ فَوْقَ الْجُذَاذِ الْمَسَاحِنُ وَالْأَصْلُ الثَّانِي: السَّحْنَةُ: لِينُ الْبَشَرَةِ. وَالسَّحْنَاءُ: الْهَيْئَةُ. وَفَرَسٌ مُسْحَنَةٌ أَيْ حَسَنَةُ الْمَنْظَرِ. وَنَاسٌ يَقُولُونَ: السَّحَنَاءُ عَلَى فَعَلَاءٍ بِفَتْحِ الْعَيْنِ، كَمَا يَقُولُونَ فِي ثَأْدَاءَ ثَأَدَاءَ. وَهَذَا لَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ، وَلَا لَهُ قِيَاسٌ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ ثَأْدَاءُ وَسَحْنَاءُ عَلَى فَعْلَاءَ. وَأَمَّا الْأَصْلُ الثَّالِثُ فَقَوْلُهُمْ: سَاحَنْتُكَ مُسَاحَنَةً، أَيْ خَالَطْتُكَ وَفَاوَضْتُكَ.
