سجف: السِّجْفَانِ: سِتْرا باب الحَجَلَةِ، وكذلك سِجْفا الخِبَاءِ. والسُّجفُ والتَّسْجِيْفُ: إرْخاءُ السِّجْفَيْنِ. والسَّجَفُ: خَمَاصَةُ البَطْنِ، في بَطْنِه سَجَفٌ: أي دِقَّةٌ. والسُّجْفَةُ: ساعَةٌ من اللَّيْل كالسُّدْفَة.

(سَجَفَ) السِّينُ وَالْجِيمُ وَالْفَاءُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ إِسْبَالُ شَيْءٍ سَاتِرٍ. يُقَالُ أَسْجَفْتُ السِّتْرَ: أَرْسَلْتُهُ. وَالسَّجْفُ وَالسِّجْفُ: سِتْرُ الْحَجَلَةِ. وَيُقَالُ أَسْجَفَ اللَّيْلُ، مِثْلُ أَسْدَفَ.
