درع سَابِغٌ: تامّ واسع. قال الله تعالى: أَنِ اعْمَلْ سابِغاتٍ
[سبأ/ 11] ، وعنه استعير إِسْبَاغُ الوضوء، وإسباغ النّعم قال: وَأَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَهُ ظاهِرَةً وَباطِنَةً
[لقمان/ 20] .

(سَبَغَ) السِّينُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالْغَيْنُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى تَمَامِ الشَّيْءِ وَكَمَالِهِ. يُقَالُ أَسْبَغْتُ الْأَمْرَ، وَأَسْبَغَ فُلَانٌ وُضُوءَهُ. وَيُقَالُ أَسْبَغَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ نِعَمَهُ. وَرَجُلٌ مُسْبِغٌ، أَيْ عَلَيْهِ دِرْعٌ سَابِغَةٌ. وَفَحْلٌ سَابِغٌ: طَوِيلُ الْجُرْدَانِ، وَضِدُّهُ الْكَمْشُ. وَيُقَالُ سَبَّغَتِ النَّاقَةُ، إِذَا أَلْقَتْ وَلَدَهَا وَقَدْ أَشْعَرَ.
