زون: زونية: حزام، منطقة (فليشر معجم ص71).
زِوان (في حلب): الحنطة لم ينجح زراعتها ويكون ذلك إذا هطل المطر بكثرة بعد قليل من بذر البذور (نيبور رحلة إلى بلاد العربق ص151)، ويقال أيضاً زيوان (محيط المحيط).

زُونٌ:
بضم أوّله، وآخره نون: موضع تجمع فيه الأصنام وتنصب، قال رؤبة:
وهنانة كالزّون يجلى صنمه
هذا عن الليث، وقال غيره: كلّ ما عبد من دون الله فهو زون وزوان، وعن نصر: زون صنم كان بالأبلّة، وقيل: الزون بيت الأصنام أي موضع كان.

(زَوَنَ) الزَّاءُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالنُّونُ لَيْسَ هُوَ عِنْدِي أَصْلًا. عَلَى أَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ: الزَّوْنُ: الصَّنَمُ. وَمَرَّةً يَقُولُونَ: الزَّوْنُ بَيْتُ الْأَصْنَامِ. وَرُبَّمَا قَالُوا زَانَهُ يَزُونُهُ بِمَعْنَى يَزِينُهُ. وَمِنَ الْبَابِ الزِّوَنَّةُ: الْقَصِيرَةُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ. وَالرَّجُلُ زِوَنٌّ. وَرُبَّمَا قَالُوا: الزَّوَنْزَى: الْقَصِيرُ. وَكُلُّهُ كَلَامٌ.
